NOTICE: The principal service of the Orthodox Church is the awesome Eucharistic Sacrifice of the most holy Body and Blood of our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ--the divine Liturgy--offered on Lordsdays and other holy days (daily in monasteries and large temples). SEE HERE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. The services that follow here are supplementary, non-sacrifical prayer services. The monastic hour services (Vespers, the night office, etc.) are celebrated in ordinary parishes at certain times; they of course fill a good percentage of the twenty-four-hour day in monasteries for men and for women. What follow are special devotional services that stand apart from the ordered liturgies of the Church.
PRONUNCIATION NOTE: The following are pronounced in Greek like English "ee": eta ("e"), i, y, ei, oi, ui."
