The entry

Where the drive goes through the lychee-longan orchards

Jungalow and 'ohana house are 1/5 mi. back from front gate.
The palm trees at the entry are still young; the variegated pandanus trees
(about 35' inside of the gate; they were there before the road was made)
barely appear in this photograph, handsome though they are

Sunrise & Sunset at MLG

Māla (inner garden) of the jungalow (residence).  There are about 110
tilapia in the deep fish pool; the picture on the right shows what you
first see when you come into the jungalow

My backyard

Above & below:  In the mala (inner garden) of my jungalow.

Some people don't keep a low-priced car fourteen years the I have my Tracer; I'd rather
use my few $$ to fence in my fish pond so that the new
Dalmaatian pup from Australia
 cannot end up in it.

BIG-ISLAND FRIENDS

The brilliant (except me) Berlin team (all Dr. titles
except one later became Prof.) are:

Dr. Jerrold Edmonson (later dept. head at UTArlington)
Dr. Thomas Perry (later dept. head & dean SImon Frasier)
Karl Maroldt, Dr. Dan Maxwell
Dr. Frederick Jones (Dept. head, St. Augustine's College)
Dr. Eva & the late Dr. Willi Mayerthaler (Inst. head at
Klagenfurt, Austria, inventor of reversal theory)
me
Dr. Peter Mühlhäusler, dept. head, Adelaide, Australia

In the foregoing, you see, in the upper row, me, Willi Mayethaler,
Peter Mühlhäusler, Karl Marold, Jerry Edmondson, and a helper;
in the second row, three helpers, Fr. Brummenbaum (my secretary), and
Claudia (i.e. teacher whose family name I cannot at the moment recall)

[Martyn Phillips, a Brit, is missing from both pictures; an Akadem. Rat,
he was seldom around and not seldom held classes in cafes]

The Kukui (candle nut) tree, Hawaii state tree

It is the Hawai'i state tree; leis are made of its leaves & flowers;
when the thumbnail poem below is clicked on
and printed out, it fills an 8.5" X 11" page]

kukui or candle-nut tree.jpg (244167 bytes)

In the jungle rain,
flower hues are more intense,
scents are more pungent
